Don't even bother with them.

If you're talking about one of those gimmics were some guy at the coffee shop asks you to join their business or you have a friend who's trying to build a pyramid of associates to gain points you're just waisting you're time (and in some cases, money.)

Unless you obsess over it, you're chances are near non existant. If you do, it would take well over a year of miseary trying to hold your life together while making this a full time job, and then you're still having trouble making ends meet.

Plus, a good handfull of these are scams.

The next time DC Intl. or Americorp trys to recruit you, or some guy at work or in the book store thinks you'd be good at business and "has one of his own", just say: "sure I'd be glad to go" and then predict if you'll get enough free food for the gas trip out there.

Profitable, but a lot of work. I've done the wholesale/reseller route, both with stock and drop-shipping, but to be honest, affiliate marketing is easier, and with the right approach, you can make more money. Check out http://www.buddyandoscars.com and http://www.passionsunchained.com (adult only site) as examples. If you don't have any moral issues, the hottest selling items are sex toys. Go to the webmaster section at Buddy & Oscars if you need more info. on getting started, or if you want to stick with the wholesale/reseller idea, there are three ligitmate sources on that page to help you get started. Either way you go, I'm making a good living at it, and I really am my own boss finally.

If you intend to be truly "wholesale," meaning selling to resellers, then the web doesn't offer a lot of potential for you. In most cases, wholesalers need to have warehouses, or at least, they have to maintain a lot of product. Wholesalers exist only because they can provide quick, efficient service to their dealers - who sell to the ultimate consumer.

If you mean that you plan to sell to the public at "wholesale" prices, be aware that some states have laws that preclude your use of the word "wholesale" unless you meet some pretty strict conditions. And, since you would theoretically sell to any and all states, this could be a problem for you.

I would take a hard look at your business plan and see if you really have the potential to succeed at this.

Use E-bay to sell your goods. E-bay will take a cut of the profit but the site attracts millions every day. As far as your own site, plenty of big business dogs out there, getting plenty of web hits. Don't know if a small fry could compete. You could SEO but it will cost you.

it's very possible , with a little advertising through google adwords, your site can blow up -
► Just use NVU editor (www.nvu.com), it's free and wont tie you down to one method of editing. NVU pages can be transferrable to frontpage or dreamweaver html editor
SEE http://www.interkeys.com/htmleditor for more info on Premium HTML Editors (WYSIWYG)

► For free hosting, try google superpages or yahoo geocities ,
its sort of free hosting, but you are limited to a subdomain on googlepages & geo has ads on your website - otherwise I would use http://www.interkeys.com/tophosts to get one for a few bucks a month with 500 GIG bandwidth and the rich with features

its up to you how developed a site you want and if you want to use your own domain name
