My uni says that a ten percent margin either way is acceptable - so anything between 2700 and 3300 would do for a 3000 word essay.
In terms of writing brill essays - you'd need to tell us what the topic is. Speaking as an English tutor in a university (one of my many functions in life) the best thing you could do to get a good mark is write clearly, with no spelling or grammatical errors, and use double line spacing on your pages. The easier your work is to read, the higher your mark, generally. In terms of content, well - can't do much to help you there! AVOID stuff like wikipedia, gradesaver, etc. - that kind of stuff just ticks tutors off, big time. Good luck.

Usually its about ten per cent either way. Thirteen hours? Sh*t, you've left it to the last minute!!! You didnt say what your essay subject or question is. If its anything to do with history, or psychology I MAY be able to help you. But if not, why dont you go on the internet and print off some sample essays on the subject. Grab a few books on the subject to gather a few quotes to include. Jumble and change the words a bit an put it all together. You will just have to knuckle down and get on with it. And dont make the same mistakes again. All the best!

It depends on what your university states in its regulations. At mine the rule is it can be 10% either way, so that would make the minimum word count for you 2700. As for tips:
Write the question that the essay asks.
Analyse the question (this will actually eat up loads of words)
Answer the question in accordance with your analysis (ie; you think the question is hinting at this, so this is the supporting evidence)
Conclude your essay, reiterating why you came to the conclusion!
Good luck!

On average you can get away with 5% over or under - but if you are using a PC, use your word count function frequently.
Brill essays,
1. Plan it out first
2. Have a good opening describing what you are setting out to do
3. Construct your argument logically
4. Write so the text "flows"
5. Wrap it up with a conclusion and summary

Ive done a psychology assignment in 1800 words minimum and got a bare pass. It's best to go over your word limit and then filter it down. It depends on the content of your essay make bullet points if you must and then fill out so you don't miss any essential valid points.
Good luck......

Assuming you have even the slightest little bit of know-how relating to the situation handy, you may have the means to get on the internet, do your learn interior of four hours or so, and write the paper in yet another 2 hours. in case you have more desirable know-how of the situation already, you may easily have the means to knock out 3000 words in 3 hours or so

Divide it by 4. Most common words range from 3-5 letters.
If you are writing an essay, use word processor, it will count the words for you.

It's usually +/- 10%, so 2700 would be acceptable. Use double line breaks, concise paragraphs and just try and make it look like it's about 3000 even though it's a bit less. It's unlikely that they'll count if it looks about right.

Oh dear, and I thought I was a bad procrastinator!! They never actually count the words, they just take your word for it so maybe do about 2000 and bulk it out with pictures/tables etc.. make sure you get all your referencing right though! Good luck :o)
