I don't know what he was talking about at the time, so it would be hard to say. But it could have been like this for example: If you were talking about how one of you felt about each other, he could have said that meaning....that he really did care a lot about you and realize that he made a big mistake and was sorry.

But to be one the safe side, I would just ask him what it was that he meant by that statement. If there is any chance of things working out for you two, you both.....him included is going to have to learn to say what you mean instead of making statements such as that. Most people are not mind readers. We need to know what you are saying.

It indicates to me that he is trying to exaggerate his past, or to cover some part of it up from you. As in saying "If you only knew how bad I was you would be surprised." Or "If you only knew how great all the women say I am in bed."

Either way it goes if he can't be open with you, there is a problem.

i think it means that he has feelings for you still but he dosent know how to tell you or he dosent think you will care. I've had an ex tell me that and i've felt the same way if he only knew how i really felt we'd be together. I think thats what that means. ask him what you should know tell him its bugging you.
