PC Magazine rates Norton Internet Security 2007 an editors choice.

The NIS 2007 firewall, antivirus, and antispyware all offer world-class protection. Optional antispam, privacy, and parental control modules are relatively weak, but that's better than having the strong antispam and weak antispyware of ZoneAlarm. And I love the firewall's silent but lethal program control—no popups!

Spybot S&D (free)

AVG (free)

believe it or not this is what all the computer talk show guys say to do.
