Our cat is a Manx and they are bred with no tail. She constantly has, for want of a better description, dried poop stuck to her hindquarters. I am wondering if anyone knows how to either eliminate the problem or how to clean her. I've tried washing her, but she doesn't like it so much. Any suggestions?

Hi there...consider using a damp cloth to wipe him there or unscented baby wipes will work too. If her fur is longer than usual some people find that trimming the hair around the anus regularly will help resolve the feces from sticking to the fur as well.

Most cats are very clean in that area, and when they aren't, it usually means there is a problem. One could be that your cat is too fat to bend down that far to clean itself? Another is it could be depressed. I know that sounds funny, but if your cat, for whatever reason is unhappy, it can get depressed just like humans. Has your routine, or its routine been disturbed recently? If not , is your cat strictly an indoor cat? If it is, try cleaning out its litter box everyday for two weeks, and see if the problem doesn't clear itself up.

Leave her alone and she'll most likely clean herself off. Cats do not like to be dirty, it makes them very uncomfortable. If yours is not making any effort at cleaning herself, I'd take her to the vet - something serious is likely wrong with her.
