My son just got his 2 month shot and right after the shots, the dr gave him a pain relief oral shot. after 4 hours later, my baby is crying and screeching with a very red face (i guess from the pain), I quickly tried to feed him but he didn't want to eat (which is abnormal since he usually eats every 3-4 hours. He kept crying n crying and then falling asleep and then after a minute of sleeping, crying in pain again. I quickly gave him infant tylenol (only 0.8ML) and he is still crying. Now he stopped crying and is in my bathroom with the shower running in the background and he is sleeping. Should i wake him up to eat?? should i give a very warm bath to help him ease the pain? should i even give him a bath today since he just had needles stuck in his skin today?? can anybody give me some advice on how to comfort him so he will eat?
please help, thanks.
PS, this is my 1st baby.

Call your pediatrician. Make sure this isn't a reaction.

Calm down daddy. Panicking because of his reaction will only make it worse for him. He will mirror how you're acting. If you're worked up, he'll get even more worked up, and then you'll panic, and then he'll panic, and eventually you'll both be sick and exhausted.
Check him for fever for starters. Some vaccines can cause a low fevers, others should NOT and fever can be a sign of an allegic reaction. For his age a fever is anything over 100.4 i believe.. its 100. something, you'll want to google the fever temperature of a newborn.
Check him for other things such as irregular colored skin, and off behavior.
If nothing is abnormal except is crying, dont panic. Soothe him, bathe him if thats what he likes, swaddle him if he likes that, talk to him calmly, move slowly around him, handle him slowly. Keep the lights dimmed, and keep the noise down.
If he's asleep and content, leave him. He will wake when he's hungry and eat.
If he refuses food when he does wake up, call your doctor, lack of appitite can also sometimes be a sign of allergic reaction.
Either way, he really will be better tomorrow or the next day.
You have to relax a little.

Well first of all relax lol. My daughter had her shots two weeks ago and she cried for a few hours afterward. The best thing to do is to massage the area where he got the shot and then put a warm compress on it. If you choose to give him anymore Tylenol only give him 0.4 ML. That is the proper dose for his age. If he doesn't want to eat don't force him. Right now it's best to let him sleep as long as he wants. Trust me he'll make up for the missed feeding when he wakes up. BTW i'm a new parent as well

Awww the poor baby. My baby just had her shots on tuesday (she was 2.75 months though) and she cried the same way but all I can say is that the tylenol did work wonders with her, it put her to sleep twenty minutes later....it sounds like you gave the rong dose. My baby was 11lbs and 12 ounces and i gave her 0.75 ml of tylenol so you probably gave to little. Also they say putting a cool cloth on the area where the baby got the shots is to work.

Do not wake him up. It is ok to let them sleep. They won't starve they will wake when they are hungry.
When i was at the hospital i asked the nurse how many times did i have to wake her up to eat. She said only for the first 24 hours do they want to make sure they eat every 4 hours then when she wants to eat feed her.
You don't have to wake him up to eat. He is exhasted from crying. Let him sleep he will wake when he is hungry.
My daughter just got hers too and she was upset. It was th first time she actually cried real tears.
Just give him tylenol every 4 hours like the bottle says or when he gets up after that time period. And he will calm dwon. My daughter ended up getting a fever too.
BUt it is normal.

shots do hurt the little ones, just relax. you are doing the right thing that does of Tylenol is fine. Tylenol is dosed by weight so give what the MD said to give, give it to him every four hours, even if he is not fussing. just for today though to keep him out of pain. If he still is crying I would call your MD to see what else may be the cause of him crying. If he is sleeping do not wake him let him sleep. Do not give him motrin, he is to young for motrin
