Is it all about the stress, shopping, and presents, or do you find time to also make it a time of celebration and thanks?

The wonderful memories of great Christmasses past; the smell of a live Christmas tree and the smells coming from the kitchen; the fact that many people do act more nice during the Holidays; the beautiful decorations on people's homes. And giving great gifts to my loved ones.
Oh, yeah... and See's chocolates.

Christmas to me means being with my freinds and family. Yes, the presents are nice, but I would trade every single present to have my family with me. Christmas is also about celebrating my Lord and Savior's birth. I love Christmas because I get to go home, see the loved ones I don't get to see everyday anymore, and go to my home Church! It's also a time of counting your blessings and being thankful, because next year, there could be one less person. God Bless and Merry Christmas!

I love the look of my kids faces Christmas morning.. and it the only time of year you will find Egg Nog in stores.. along with Nauchos. (chocolate treat).... I also like how people are more giving.. I avoid big mall and always go to smaller ones.. less people and more friendly... I also see more family that time of year as well.. so there is catch up and see how every ones babies have grown over the year!!! I was very prego last Christmas with number 3...

First of all, our family going out on a cold, snowy December evening and choosing our tree. Then when we all gather together and put up the tree and decorate it. I love having a little before Christmas party with extended family and have little snack sandwiches and Christmas goodies and exchange gifts. Also, going out as a family on Christmas Eve to look at all the house decorations, and it never fails, we end up seeing Rudolph's red nose shining in the sky and we have to get home and get to bed since Santa's on his way!

Me, I prefer it to be a season of celebration and joy -- and I concentrate on that.

But as a long-term single parent (who raised two disabled children on her own) I can say this -- the shopping, the presents are ALWAYS on the minds of the children -- which is why I limited exposure to the TV or advertising to them. I wanted them to remember everyone at the holiday season, and NOT just for what they "GOT" from them for presents.

TRUTHFULLY... nothing, with the exception of what it represents as far as Jesus goes... I'm sick of Christmas, and Christmas songs, and buying presents, and all of the other BULL that goes along with it...

The worst is hearing dumb and depressing songs, such as "I'll be home for Christmas"... if only in my dreams...

Just an overblown bunch of B.S to have people buy the merchants products etc...

The hype starts almost after halloween is over, as people are thinking, NEXT HOLIDAY IS CHRISTMAS... better start putting things away on layaway...

I mean there are people buying presents for next Christmas on BOXING DAY... and putting things on layaway, and thinking about what they might buy in a year from the previous Christmas, etc...

It all goes to show how easy the MEDIA can brainwash the people, and like dumb sheep, the people always follow...

Not too many people are LEADERS, most are followers...

The glamour and GLITZ of Christmas means nothing to me...

You also have people out there asking what Christmas means to you, Wayyyy before Christmas, like around the begining of DECEMBER... (wink, wink)

once December hits, it's o.k to talk a little about Christmas, but in September, October, November... BOXING DAY.... In the summer time... putting items on layaway...

It can get to the point of ridiculousNESS...

I hate the stress of christmas! I really do! i think all advertising directed at kids applying pressure on parents for a X360 with 20 games, should be outlawed until 9.30pm!

OOOops! Sorry, my family!

Understanding the meaning behind it, and being able to share it with the ones you love. Its not about the gifts but the love in our hearts for one another. Its the best season and time of the year, because ignoring teh ignorant ones, everyone is nice and polite to one another. Strangers say hello to one another, and for some people that could enlighten their day!!!!!!1

the best part for me is all the pre-holiday caroling, tree lightings, concerts, church cantata, plays, museum candle light tours,-theres a celebration every weekend at one venue or another, and we get to as many events as we can.yesterday,we went to a church craft fair,a colonial xmas and a medieval xmas, then at night, saw a play our friends kids were in !having a blast !also,on xmas morning,we put ribbons on our dogs.its silly and fun.we dont stress the present thang-buy it in advance all year as we see items various friends/relatives would like.by december, our shopping is done.ps-whoa!the person above me must be my long-lost twin or something!!!!!!
