Truth Absolutley doesn't exist I'm absotuley 100 percent positive. Obviously there has to be truth. The first step is to acknowledge there is a God. If it doesn't just naturally come to you. There is science. http://www.cosmicfingerprints.com/audio/newevidence.htm
The next step is to understand who God is & what he wants.
Well unfortunately you could be raised in an eviroment that teaches about God wrong. So how can you find the truth. First step is prayer, and asking God to reveal himself to you. Then when the opportunity comes, you will know. Or you can just go around searching different religions until you find the one that you believe is correct. But if you want to save yourself sometime become a Christian. The bible is the word of God. How do I know. Because the spirit of Jesus Dwells in the hearts of believers, and it is a fact. I realize you won't believe that. However Jesus rose again from the dead, and is alive. Prophecies are being fufilled right now, that are in the bible.

The bible has not changed over time it has stayed the same, only slight translations have changed.
The bible has scientific facts all over. But unless you seek for the truth, you will never find it.

I don't know if I'd go so far as to say historians "Lie" but they definately are somtimes guilty of presenting a biased opinion. There's an old saying that goes: "The winners of the wars write the History books." I think this is pretty much the case. For example, alot of the history books we read ins school are slanted toward the U.S. cause, and only tell one side of the story. An example of this is WWII and the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. Almost all history books say we did it so as to avoid having to invade Japan and lose tens of thousands of troops. Well, we now know that Japan had already surrendered to us when we dropped it, and we probably did it just to hurry up and end the war before Russia got there ahead of us. But truth CAN exist. Often times you have to read books by authors who are called "revisionist historians." People like Howard Zinn and Noam Chomsky do not care about national bias and will present a true, objective account. Lastly, "subjectivity" is the opposite of objectivity. Subjectivity means the person was subjected to his own views and biases, thus not being objective, or impartial.

Quantum Mechanics teaches us that by even simply observing and recording, we are playing an active part and are not simply observing and recording. We are interacting by just looking.
Few places is this more accurate than transcription of human history. We are told that hind sight is 20/20, but just because we see it clearly does not mean we see the same things. No matter how much objectivity we try to keep, we are still ourselves and we still choose the words.
It is my opinion that the truth that you should seek is your own individual truth. That you should read the works of many, to get a perspective on all angles.. then figure it out for yourself. The people we are talking about when we talk about historical figures are still people, and I am under the impression that given the same situation and mind set, we would do the same things or at least find their actions understandable. If you understand the person's situation and mind set, but find the result contrary, it is fair to call it into question. At least internaly.

Yes, historians lie. Yes, truth exists but it is probably unrecognisable as truth to everyone because it is subjective. We all have our own truth. Even if the historian lies we know, because we have our own idea of what the truth should have been. Do you know what I mean? Do I know what I mean? Good luck!

Do historians lie? Sometimes they lie, sometimes they
make mistakes, and sometimes they are just ignorant
of the "big picture". In other words, don't believe every-
thing you read, just because it's in a history book!
.
Does truth exist? Of course it does!
If truth didn't exist, how could we possibly recognize
a lie when it hits us?!

History is written by the victors.
Unless you have lots of primary sources from the losers, you will never be able to decide what the truth is.
Look at today's press.
If you'd compare an independent Arabic and an English newspaper reporting about the same events you might think they are not from the same world.

Truth is a tree that never stops growing, it fruits abundant but mostly unreachable. If historians get to fetch a fruit out of it, eat it, & plant it's seed, the time it grows they'd call it history.
History is not a lie. but it's not entirely everything. somewhere somehow the truth exists, but it grew to tall for us to reap another fruit from it.

A couple of years back i loved reading subaltern writings of history, to the point of being nearly obssesed ,especially the history of my country. Most intriguing, at times infuriating.
There's so much to rewrite and it's a highly contested terrain, so it makes it interesting and a vibrant subject. Mostly, it amazing how distorted written accounts of history truly is, and how the collective memory of a nation or groups of people can be fooled into beleiving in them and thus shaping the future for the worse.
Orientalists are notorious for their factual inaccuracies, you get travelogues of dubious credibility posing as academic works, explains a lot why certain customs in certain parts of the world is feared and misunderstood still.
