im an english singer, i don't lose my accent exactly, because i don't sound american...or anythign else, i just sing how it's easiest to sing which sometimes means changing the pronounciation of vowel sounds.
for example to sing dance in my accent, i would have to sing darnce which is difficult, its much easier to pronounciate it as an "ah" vowel sound rather than "ar" but i don't think this makes me sound like I have any particular accent

Probably because the tone has been set - most sngs have a sort of American accent and people are so used to singing in another accent that they just automatically do it. Not all bands do though, there are a few Australian bands I can think of that don't....and a few British too - like The Sex Pistols, but it's actually harder to sing with an Australian accent than it is American...go figure. The weird thing is, if Australians sing in a thick Australian accent, a lot of people figure it sounds similar to bands like The Sex Pistols, even though the accents are entirely different

That's true

Def Leppard, Iron Maiden, Oasis & Pet Shop Boys don't sound british when they sing

I guess it's just practice, these artists need to sound international since their records are sold worldwide, not only in the UK

I wonder why people want to leave the UK while Oasis songs are so happy, and those guys when interviewed looked happy too

because the accent is- when a word is spoken, it's emphasis or the way to pronounce certain letters.

when you sing you stretch the sounds, so they are not accented

it's an illusion to think they sound american- they probably think we sound british or whatever when we sing.
