The doctor told me that I had a stitch left after he thought he removed them all. It was not dissolvable stitches. What would have happened if he did not catch this error and had left the stitch in my body? Would it just stay in my body when the wound closed?

I know from Experience they will eventually be forced out by your body. I had stitches from 8 years ago come out a year ago it was right over the scar and it was being forced out it looked llike a string.Hope this answers your question

The skin would have healed around the stitch and gotten infected. You could have gotten a staff infection, and then be worse off then you were before.

The stitches will stay in there until the docter takes them out,but if he does not take them out sooner or lter they will go deeper into your skin.

yes it would and if for some reason it bothers you would just tell them what you think it is.it is amazing but people could live for ever with metals in their bodies and have no problem at all!

It will eventually work its way out. It happened to me when I had my knee operated on. It is a weird (not painful, just weird) feeling when you pull it out.
