I know it doesn't excuse him..that's NOT what I am saying. But I wanted to know why he lost it. I guess from the answer I got it was because he was called "a cracker." and that's not good either. It all proves racial epithtets are always wrong. Again. I am not trying to vindicate anyone..just understand what happened. When you tell me it doesn't matter. Your wrong it does. We need to know what motivates us as people right or wrong. thanks for your answers.

They called him "honkie", "cracker" and one or two 12-letter words I can't print here. But that doesn't justfy his response. There are more appropriate ways to handle hecklers. You can put them down devastatingly without lowering yourself to their level.

I don't but it doesn't matter because hurling such racist language with such hate is completely unacceptable.

Questioner: So what if those people in fact said it first? Richards didn't have to react that way. He could have just asked them to leave or had them removed in a calm manner. I've been through that kind of stuff on daily basis as a child and I never freaked the hell out and yelled racial slurs at everyone.

There's a difference between joking and being a racist. Chris Rock says racist things for humor. Michael Richards was NOT trying to be funny, he was just being an angry, racist man. If you watch the footage and see how Michael Richards delivers the obscenities, it's blatantly obvious that he's a total racist.

They were heckling him saying he wasn't funny then he lost it. He said what he said and they called him a cracker in between all his ranting. You could hear other audience members saying his remarks were uncalled for and getting up to leave.

What Chris Rock does is different. He doesn't attack his audience and his racial comments, wrong or right are always within the context of his story or joke. It ain't personal!

I don't think it matters-he had no right to act and speak as he did. If there was someone who offended him--could he not have discreetly had that person removed from the show.

I think each side owes an apology and that should be the end of it. But, oh no, the hecklers want money - of course. Disgusting.

I'm not sure, but I'm not riding the PC bandwagon on this one. It's okay for Chris Rock to use the same words and humor, and then to look at the crowd and say, "Look at all the crackers here tonight", but white comedians can't?

Whatever happened to freedom of speech? It was certainly rude of him, but why is he getting so much press? Cause he is white?
