It may be a really long period, but it took me for example over a month to get over after we split up.But it probably took this short, because I knew that this would sooner or later end...

Thats a tough one. I am in that boat at the moment. I love them - they dont feel same way. Its hurting every day at the moment. I wonder how long it will last too. However basically I think everyone is different.
Some of us are stronger than others. Some can cope better. Others - like me find it a tougher task. I wish you had an off switch - one flick and thats the hurt over......
I dont know if I would want to go through it again but thats just me and some would say its sad unless of course they truly understand that feeling.

In some ways, never. I still remember the girls I split up with 23+ years ago, though I've been happily married for 25 years.
Why would you forget? Why do you need to be "fully over them"?
You were happy, remember that. But don't forget to move on too.

i think you never get completely over any one that you have a long term relationship with i mean i think you do stop hurting after a period of sorrow and pain but i think as long as you a live thing will alway remind you of that person like a song you hear orsome one talks like they did or even if they hurt you really bad you never really get over it and at hurts your next relationship like with trust or honesty so my answer is no i think everyone will always stay in your heart no matter how long or how bad the relationship was good question

My ex, the father of my child, is the love of my life. I decided to finish it with him over 4 years ago, because he had severe mental problems and ended up hurting me, and not being able to remember it. I felt i needed to do this in case the next time, it was our daughter who was on the recieving end of his manic delusions. I will never get over him. Ever. Good luck. x

it depends
i was in love with this guy and we'd known each other for about four or five years before we started going out. we always liked each other, but we didn't want to admit our feelings. after about a year we broke up and it really hurt, but i'm over it and we're still good friends. he's even going out with a really close friend of mine, but i don't mind so much. you never forget about them, but you do get over it and the pain goes away.

How long is how long? There is no answer to that question because we are all unique individuals.
You probably only fully get over it, if you fall in love more deeply, ....or realise that you were actually only infatuated.
It happens.
If you are in that 'in-between stage' please remember that now is not always.

The pain subsides, you may be over them, even a little angry, but if its real love, you never ever stop loving them

depends what they did to you in the first place for you to stop going out with them doesnt it?
shacking up with your best mate isnt going to be as easy to get over as say just falling out of love with them.
so its a bit of a tough one to answer.......
everyone is different.
it just takes time
good luck.
