no. some plants are motile, they can move for food, support, growth, etc. some plants capture small insects as food, so roots are not the only source of absorbing nutrition. moreover, roots only supports the plant to stand upright and absorve water and dissolved minerals which are taken to leaves and food is formed by photo synthesis
