Believe it or not but when I went through some professional sales training we were taught to maintain a positive attitude even when you were having a bad day or was sick. They way that they started this was to ALWAYS say "Great" when asked how you were doing. The idea is that the person asking didn't really care how you were doing since most people only think of how they are doing, and if you say anything other than "Great" they would associate what you were experiencing to their own life thinking either man I'm glad I'm not this guy, or I wish I could be like this guy. Also by you saying "Great" it was a step toward feeling better even if you don't believe it. I now always say great and it has worked for me.
The other thing is to surround yourself with positive minded people. Being yourself doesn't mean you give up on yourself in being or having a positive attitude.

Your depressed! You need to do some exercises, get that heart rate up! Really!! Just do some jumping jacks, about 25 then do 25 bend over- alternate side toe touches,Breath in through the nose out through the mouth slowly as you work out.Go outside and walk to the corner and back. Go make a cup of tea or coffee think about what you would like to learn to do or what you might make. I think the options will seem happier than your current viewpoint.

Haha, I used to be that way, always happy, always smiling, trying to make everyone else's day better, then I came to college and went way down hill.

It can be VERY exhausting to be this way, I know from my own experience.

While I've gotten back to my suzie-sunshine mode a little more, just try to take things as they are and not stress that not EVERYTHING in life is good or can be positive. That sucks, I know, but you will drive yourself crazy trying to feel like everything in life is positive, becasue unfortunately it isn't.

You could talk to a shrink about these feelings, it might help and they may offer you a little bit of balance on the subject :). Good Luck!

I know exactly how you feel man. Sometimes, I feel the same way myself. You're a happy and positive person but you don't get credit for it. how do you feel about being a positive happy person? Do you give yourself credit for being that way?
I feel that way about myself a lot but i tell myself that being a grumpy person isn't going to solve anything. You gotta stick to who you are and one of these days, you'll be glad you did. I'm fighting the same battle you are, but I won't stop.

Imagine you were about to die- you would never experience anything you like again, never see anyone you love again, never have anything left that you can achieve or try in life again.

This is how you will feel some day right before you die, that is if you are lucky enough to have time to think about it.

Now think about all those things I mentioned and how much they mean to you. That is every person on earth's reason for living. Be grateful. Be happy. Live your live and be thankful for every minute of it.

There are so many reasons to be happy and stay positive. If you are healthy, have a roof over your head, food on the table, your love ones still around you .... aren't these worth a smile? There are so many people in this world who wishes they have either one of these. Count your blessings and be contented.

Oh, I can be happy. Happy is great. But I am sick and tired of people telling me to SMILE! Hell, what's it too them. Last year I was walking into a store during Christmas shopping season and Santa was outside ringing the salvation army bell and the big, fat red man himself told me to smile. Bad Santa! Bad!
And Ugh! F* Greg! That first answer up there! Geez, he told you to SMILE! What is with people! My happy meter is going down pretty darn fast here people!
