I just dont see how we cant just be thankful for what we have been given and enjoy what we have, and the way we are. I do this all the time. I worry about what others say and think.

To look for approval from others, is almost like getting permission to like ourselves the way we are, it removes our doubts, insecurities, it gives confirmation that we are okay, were alright, or were normal in the eyes of the world...i do agree that we should be thankful of who we are, but it just ain't that way people always need assurance, and certainty, seeking approval is just another one.

Worrying about what others say and think - that is not going to increase your self confidence. If you have any skills (and we all have a couple or three - even if it is gardening or something unscholarly like that - (the world admires the brainy ones, sadly) then improve those skills and you will feel good about yourself and won't need to depend upon the admiration of other folks.

Try reading aloud to a shut-in? Or volunteering at the library? Or picking up a piece of trash in the store's parking lot. these things help the other guy and give you a lift.
