no i don't think it's a myth at all......
I feel priviliged when people smile at me as it confirms to me that there are still nice people out there as i smile at everyone i make eye contact with some smile back others just overt eye contact with you so they don't have to agknowledge you!!!!!
but in asnwer to your question yes it makes me feel warm inside...

I just see someone smiling. If I am feeling warm I better check to see if the heater is on. It is a stranger then it could be the sunlight coming in the window right into my chest. lol.
