LV established the franchise and provided the template for the team leader and the rest of the crew. You can't help but notice the efforts being made in the NY and Miami spinoffs to balance distinctiveness and familiarity. Sitting down to watch LV you aren't subconsciously comparing it with the others because it sets the agenda the others follow. I think 100 times better is maybe pushing it a bit though - I'd settle for twice as good.

CSI Las Vegas is 10000 times better than NY. Because scientifically speaking it doesn't have SO many mistakes, they don't explain every little single thing as if the viewers were brain-dead and they don't walk around in crime scenes and handling dead corpses dressed like they were in a cocktail party. Just to name a few reasons.

Miami & NY the CSI's act more like cops where in Vegas they act more like scientists. One show on Miami H told the suspect she couldn't take the law into her own hands, yhen the next season he kills his wifes murderer with his own bare hands in after tracking him down in another country. Talk about double standards. Yeah their all cops in the other cities & in Vegas they all science nerds. The science is what seperates it from all of the other cop shows.

because they took more time to develop the characters carefully so you become attached to them, you don't necessarily see a lot of their personal lives like you do in Miami and NY, but you get a feel for who the csi are.

1) Greg likes to dress up in the evidence.
2) The only TV show that ever had both a dead scuba diver in a tree and a criminal who masqueraded as a judge.
3) Crap blows up all the time.
4) Bodies are found in the most unlikely places.
5) Criminals are some of the craziest (and cleverest) ever seen.
6) The original, be it a movie or TV show, is almost always the best.
7) Grissom is awesome. Period.
8) Could watch the show all day.

Vegas has much more in-depth characters, and sub-plots that relate to their personal lives. For example, Catherine's mini-plot abotut her dad (although that seems to be over after the episode about Mickey Dunn).

Someone needs to slap the writer for Miami, and then make sure he knows that removing Horatio's sunglasses before he speaks does not make his state-the-obvious comments any more intelligent.

As for NY, I like that one. Not as good as Vegas, but I like it.

The original is the best of them all because of Grissom (sp?). He rocks! I love CSI Miami too. I love laughing at Kane. The whole I'm-too-good-to-even-look-at-you thing he does is funny as hell. I watched one episode of NY and hated it. Never watched it again.
