Ok, I am 16.
I have been on the pill since abut September because im on an acne treatment called Roaccutane.

I was on the pill last year and had heavy bleeding for about 7 -8 months..im now bleeding AGAIN.
I went to the hospital last year and they didnt know what caused it.
Im now on some tablets that will lighten the bleeding, but not stop it.

I am sleeping for an un-natural ammount of time, im grouchy alot, im finding myself very miserable.

Also, becasue we are a single parent family, we only get a small amount of money a week (140 pounds to be corrent) and taking out the money for the bills, the rent, the shopping it doesnt leave much at all. So my mum is finding it very hard to keep buying the things i need for this little problem.
There have been days where i could only use toilet paper because we just cannot afford things :(

Can anyone suggest anything i could do?

I have asked my doctor if there is anything that could be done.

I had scans done, blood tests, over night stays and the hospital had no idea what was causing it.

the reason im on the pill for this treatment is just incase i get pregnant while im on Roaccutane, it can cause a deformed baby, so its a precaution

the reason im on alot of meds for acne is because ive had it since i was eight years old and every treatment they have given me hasnot worked.
This is kinda the last resort.

You don't say which brand or type of the pill you are on. When I first tried the pill, it was a type where three weeks of the month had identical pills (all the same color), and the fourth week was a placebo pill (all a second color). With that pill I found that I got very moody, got cramps a lot, had migranes a lot, and had breakthrough bleeding (bleeding at other times of the month). My doctor switched me to a different type of pill, trivora (aka Triphasil), which has three different levels of chemicals during the month (three different color pills), and then the placebo pill in the fourth week (a fourth color). This stopped all of the bad symptoms of the first type, and I've been on it for 3 years now. Ask your doctor about different types of the pill.

Also, the pill is not your only option for while on accutane (aka Roaccutane). If you are not sexually active and do not have any chance of becoming sexually active, you do not need to use any form of birth control - at least according to US regulations, if you are in the UK it may be different. If you ARE sexually active, you should be using two forms of birth control. I suggest one be the condom (as it is the only method that can prevent STDs), but the second doesn't have to be the pill. Ask your doctor about IUDs (interuterine devices), and various patches and shots that you could use instead of the pill. These would probably cost more, but the fact that you react so poorly to the pill indicate that they would be a better choice for you, and your doctor should be able to argue to the health insurance that they are required for you so they should cover them.

Good luck.

I struggled with acne for years and I finally found the solution that works for me. We have been fooled, tricked, deceived, and just plain lied to. It's time that someone put a stop to it, and everyone learn the truth!

Those of us who suffer from acne have usually been given 2 choices and neither of them work:

1. Over the counter remedies such as cleansers, creams, ointments, etc. These things have been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.

2. Go see a doctor and or dermatologist. They will generally prescribe prescription drugs which include topicals and or antibiotics. This, too, has been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.

I found a step-by-step program that cured my acne and it has never come back. It is amazing and doesn’t use any drugs or doctors. The truth is that acne can be cured…if we know the secret the doctors and drug companies don’t want us to know.

There is a great website: http://cure-my-acne.info/3daycure/ that has all the details. I really suggest you check it out and see if it works as well for you as it did for me.

Maybe you should try a different BC pill- like the one that you only have 4 periods a year. It should still help out your acne. It sounds like your taking to many meds for such a small problem. If can you live without BC pills and still have a regular period then maybe just find an acne medication that your insurance will pay for.

Can you or mom sew? Why not make your own pads? Use flannel or old towels, and go to the following website:

http://pacificcoast.net/~manymoons/howto.html
This is instructions and patterns that you can download to make your own pads. You tie them to your underwear with snap fasteners and they are really cool. You can wash them in a cold bucket of water (yucky but how do you think our great-grandmothers coped without modern pads?) and use them over and over again. You will save money too.

I will be frank: I don't like the Pill and neither do I trust it. The Pill is birth-control but doctors are so keen to just put us all on the Pill because it will get rid of all the problems so they won't have to do a proper diagnosis. Yes, the Pill have helped women but I don't think it solves problems because if you stop taking it the problems will come again. I stopped using the Pill, yes for months I had no periods but I gave my body the chance to figure herself out, and for the past year I have had regular, cramp-free periods and I am not on the Pill at all. No problem. So, stop taking the Pill. You are young, you have to give your body the chance to get it right on her own.

Don't have sex, you are still young. This is old-fashioned advice, but rather wait, please! What if you really get pregnant (the Pill is not 100% safe) or AIDS? Use condoms as well, if you want to go on with this.

Then regarding the acne and periods, watch your diet. Eat fresh fruit and vegetables, drink water, don't smoke or enjoy alcohol and too much coffee. Eat healthy and do some walking with your mom and siblings, or get a piece or rope and skip. Having a healthy body will really help. Get yourself Evening Primrose capsules and I also suggest you take some Vitex/Agnus Castus/Chaste berry. This is a herb which helps keep you regular and light, and it has helped other women with these problems. You have to take 30mg daily over a period of 6 months to really see the difference. It will also help your skin, so you don't have to take any medication. You can get Vitex and Primrose at a reasonable prize if you look around at health stores and herbalists. This is all you need. It worked for me. Be patient.

How do you look after your skin? You don't need any expensive products. Go to a chemist and buy rosewater and glycerin to mix into a cleanser, and vitamin E capsules to moisturise with: simply pierce one daily and rub the oil over your face. Or use Castille soap, a pure and 100% natural 'soap' made from olive oil. This is cheap ways of caring for your skin and I have used this myself.

Don't drug yourself with more tablets and medications. It's not good for your liver and your entire body. My advice sounds simplistic, I know, but often simple measures from nature works better in the long run than a couple of pills. Don't give up but don't rely on doctors all the time. See a doctor still, because I think you do have a real problem.

Good luck.

If you are 16, there should be a government insurance plan avaliable for you. Look for a case worker or someone who deals with jobless, poor situations and ask them to help you . Anything like blue cross /blue shield could help guide you as well.

That does not sound normal what is going on with you. You must get it checked by a good doctor as soon as you can to make suer it isnt a serious condition.
Good LUck

first thing you need to do is talk to your doctor. maybe they can switch what type of medication you are on. i have never heard of needing to be on birth control because you are on acne medication. in the states, we have a certain type of birth control pill that actually helps clear up your skin. i'm also not sure what you can do about the supplies. we have government programs here that help people in need with groceries and things.

I think i would be asking the doctor to change the pill your on for something with less side effects! or not take it at all and see if you still have the same symptoms, if you do then you need to see a gynacologist who should be able to sort you out!
