Your SOCKETS(UK) are fitted by removing the supply from your sockets and if in doubt all your electrics in the house.
The idea is that you interrupt your ring circuit and insert another single or double socket in the line.

To find out whether you have a ring circuit or not is to carefully remove your socket and there should be a set of red blue and green/yellow wires coming into the socket and going to the next one.

Fit your new socket to the wall in the same method as already present and then pull the wire back from the original socket and
with this cable connect to your new socket and then take a new cable to connect from your new socket to the old one again to keep it in the ring main.

I am in USA so UK is not familiar to me but in the states you run a #12 2 wire romex with ground from the breaker panel to your new "sockets" or plugs or recepticles and hook the wire to a 20 amp breaker ... of course there is more to it than that but your question is vague.
