For my 40th birthday, my husband bought me a huge, whirlpool and spa bath. We've moved house since! I loved it so much, I had it taken out and brought it with me! He also bought me a lhasa apso puppy probably to fill the void of not having any children (we had discussed this first to ensure I wanted one). For Christmas we're going away for a few days - only in Edinburgh but it will be a nice change (still waiting on the Alaskan cruise) I don't get shoes and clothing, jewellery etc as I prefer to buy my own.

Aromatherapy oils with a burner and some tealights, something for her collection (would be an onyx tortoise or tortoise fossil in my case), music gift vouchers, a luxurious cushion for her sofa,
a day at a spa or other health resort, books, a subscription to her favourite magazine,, it just goes on.
It would depend on the woman. If she was a rambler you could spend £15,- on a reall proper drinks bottle for when she goes hiking. She could be an earth mum and might appreciate a nice set of gardening tools and gloves. or she could be a high flyer. In which case she would probably love the day at the spa.

Books are always a good choice, have a browse on The Book People site. Not very romantic, though, so depends on who it's for. If it's someone you have romantic designs on, have another think about jewellery. The little independant jewellers & market stalls often have nice silver & semi-precious stones for a reasonable price. Earrings? After all, it's not about what you want, is it?

One of those vouchers for an amazing experience....a track day at Silverstone, hot air balloon ride or (more sedately) afternoon tea at Cliveden? A painting or piece of art perhaps? Some fabric paints and a couple of white Tshirts for her to be artistic on? Tickets for a gig or show that she would enjoy? A couple of beautiful champagne flutes and a bottle of good champagne?

Vouchers or just plain old money so she can buy what she likes. If you feel you need to get something then look at what she does on an everyday basis, does she love music, could she want an MP3 player? That kind of thing .. just watching people makes gift buying easier!

how bout a spa day? most spas have vouchers for their services and the lady in your life can get a nice facial and mani w/ pedi to pamper herself. They also have vouchers at most hair salons, which is a gift that will keep giving if she wants to spice up her look. and 30 is, for the most part, irrelavent, its all about her personality.
think about the type of things she likes, she may want a mountain bike instead of a spa trip.

Maybe an exercise bike - by the late thirties women need to take exercise seriously, as metabolism is slowing down. But get her an ipod as well, with all her favourite music recorded on it. That way she can listen while she cycles.

3 month pass to a cinema is about £30. I do believe they have unlimited use for the duration of membership.
