there was a news story on Yahoo about a US personality who had written a book after not dying when expected to

It was a news story on Yahoo about a well know US sports personality who had cancer and had gone into a home to die, but had to go home after a few months as he was still very much alive!! He has written a book due out here in late November. Who is the guy and what is the title of the book, please? thanks.
