If it says its online turn on the printer. If after that it still says offline, right click on it, and you will see that where it says Use printer offline has a checkmark. Click on it and this will take the checkmark away.

I hope that helps.

Assuming your using a Windows system what you need to do is:
1. Download the latest drivers from the companies website (like www.hp.com)
2. Install them on your computer
3. Turn off your printer and computer (to clear some errors)
4. Turn on you printer first (so it will auto detect)
5. Turn on you computer and go through any autodetect menus.

If that doesn't work you may need to take your printer to the shop to get fixed.

assuming it's on windows.... go to control panel select printers see if the icon for your printer is there(it should be)right click and check it's not set to be offline, assuming that it's turned on in first place and is installed onto your system. also right click on my computer and select manage-device manager and check that it hasn't got a red cross or a question mark next to it. if question mark then the drivers probably aren't installed, if a red cross then it's been disabled so double click it and set to use this device(enable) ta da job done i thank you.

Check your cable connections first off. Make sure it's powered on. Check your control panel on your PC to see if the PC sees the printer.
