If you got a first interview and that topic wasn't breached during it, I don't think I would bring it up if you get a second interview.

They put those kinds of characteristics in there for their ideal target employee, if they don't find that 'ideal' then it's likely if you've got the ability it won't matter if you don't have that additional experience that they're looking for in an ideal employee.

Good Luck with it.

It would be perfectly approprate to call the HR person and ask for clarification. You could say something such as, "I'm very interested in this job, could you clarify something for me? According to the job description, the job requires 1 to 3 years of experience; however, the head of the department mentioned that it requires 3 to 5 years. Which is the correct time frame?" Then, mention how many years of experience you have and something you were successful at during that time.

Good luck!

I would wait to bring up the experience issue until the second interview. Think of the many experiences that you have had that would equate to on-the-job experience. Make sure to mention any leadership positions you have held, projects your have managed, teams you have been a part of, anything that will show that you have the knowledge base they are looking for!
Good Luck! I hope you get the job!

Yes, I would confront them - um excuse me, but I may be mistaken, but last I read, your job description dictated 1-3 years exp, has it been updated to 3-5 years without my knowledge - Good Luck

Remind them poliltely about what the job description says. They may be telling you 3-5 years as an excuse not to hire you. Legally if it says 1-3 then it is. but i if they don't want you, you shouldn't want them either. Good luck
