I found a web page in the past. There does appear to be evidence that ingesting of amounts of alcohol consisting of about one pint of wine or more, at 11% alcohol is capable of causing memory loss in experienced drinkers, but do not overlook the possibility of hypnotism playing apart. In an inexperienced drinker, consuming half a bottle of whiskey is almost invariably going to cause a large memory loss. There is not doubt that short term memory loss after a binge can be quite pronounced. You are unlikely to forget a sexual partner, but you could completely forget her name, colour of her hair, an argument, fight etc.

Definitely, a state of intoxication will mean that not only would you put your small change, keys etc in some unusual place, but you will probably forget where you put them in the morning!

Everyone I know will tell you that my memory is appalling, and
I'm a piss-head! What more proof do you need?

Anyway, back to the question, perhaps you should try cleaning it with white spirit?

Hope this helps!
