With the current level of scientific discovery and inventions, it is unclear to me why the 'mystery' behind the particular area on the antlantic ocean, very close to Florida, has not been unraveled since all these years. Will it remain such for ever?

A lot of people believe that aliens are responsible but
The Bermuda Triangle is no longer a mystery, It has been explained by land movement (undersea) that scours away the top layer of sediment releasing gas hydrates that :
1) are explosive which is how planes disappear
2)agitate the water which is what creates the magnetic disturbance on compasses
3)aerates the water and ships lose their bouyancy

Once these things fall into the water, the sediment settles and covers them over which is why things "disappear"
Similar "triangles" exist around the world

Because the more scientists study it the less mystery there is. I don't think there really is any. Electric storms can cause compasses to spin and pilots to become dizzy and disoriented. Actually, pilots get disoriented from fatigue all the time and if they are over open ocean they can easily lose their bearings. The idea that when a plane goes down in the vast Atlantic ocean and you never find it this is some kind of mystery is ridiculous. Do you have any idea how many hundreds of square miles of ocean they are searching for that plane, which probably went to the bottom of a deep, deep ocean within seconds of impact? It's really a needle in a haystack.

As for boats there are many reasons for a boat to disappear, like the methane gas bubbles that get dislodged (mentioned by another answerer above) and freak waves that rise up out of nowhere and engulf ships. Both of these things strike within a matter of seconds and sink the ship to the bottom without a trace. They would have no chance to send a distress signal.

I just think we call something a mystery if we don't understand it.
