saying merry christmas or happy hannukah it seems to me that people are so afraid of offending someone they dont say anything or at my school the teachers are told to tell us "happy winter break" i understand that people have different religions and everything but not even being able to say "happy holidays" kind of annoys me what do u think???

people can be offended by happy holidays because there are some religions that do not celebrate any holidays like jehovahs witness (sorry if i spelled that wrong)

Hey ,
I think its kinda dumb that people think its offensive because why is it that trying to make a friendly comment should be offensive?
I don't get it. I mean really. Happy Winter Break? Happy Holidays would be better and how could you be OFFENDED if someone said a nice comment like that to you??

There is nothing wrong with it. It's called Freedom of Expression, you are free to express religion or not to and Freedom of speech is guaranteed in the United States Constitution.. They don't have a problem with Happy Halloween, earth day etc...
The rantings of the politically correct has gone overboard and are in fact intolerant of others. They do not want to see the other side of an issue and are totalitarian.
If you had a significant other of a different faith do you become Gumby and contort yourself to please them or would you rather they accept you and everything you are about and vice versa? In personal relationships there has to be give and take, but how much of yourself are you willing to give up, before feeling taken advantage of?

This is kinda strange to me, I mean, I am a Muslim, and for each Muslim friend I have, I know other 4 or 5 who are Christians, Jews, Hindu, and even Pagans, we say Mary Christmas, or Happy Eid, and we share all our good moments together, it helps us to get along, forget different religions and remember that we are brothers in humanity after all, it helps us to understand the other, or maybe each other, and its interesting by the way.

If you stray away from Merry Christmas say Happy Holiday's!
It does not really matter it is what is in your heart that counts.

All religions are one.
Billions of paths are but one path.
Each human being is following one path, and he mistakenly thinks that other people are treading the wrong ones.
In reality, we all are walking on only one Path, the bright Path to heavenly union with the One True God. Any time we turn back, we are in darkness and becoming confused.

you must do what you feel in your heart is the right thing to do. but I agree as this being " politically correct " is getting way out of hand so a " MERRY CHRISTMAS and A HAPPY NEW YEAR " to you and yours.
