I will tell you my philosophy..(does not mean I would not kill someone who was going to kill my child..that is a reaction)
If someone kills me they destroy my body...if I kill someone else it "may" destroy my soul
I do not think you go to hell for something like that...saving grace is in being sorry that a situation had to end in a tragic way and not rejoicing in the death of another no matter how evil they were..judgement is for God.

A sin? Which religion are we referencing? If you belong to a religious institution, ask someone in its hierarchy qualified to pass judgment or to interpret scripture.
Your question also implies "have to kill." No one "has to kill" anyone. Killing is a choice and I was under the impression that free will is important.
I doubt anyone who responds is qualified to answer this question, but some will undoubtedly share interesting and informed opinions. Others may quote scripture or other religious writings...but that is not an answer, and I doubt many holy books ever addressed the issues of guns, serial killers, or drunk drivers.
As for going to Hell, no one can answer that with any authority.
Good luck.

"Thou shalt not kill" would be better translated "thou shalt not murder." In western religious thought, there has never been any prohibition on killing as a defensive act. Drunkenness has been considered sinful because it leads to things like vehicular homicide. Whether you go to hell is a completely different matter. It may be a good talking point with your priest/minister/rabbi.

No,one does not go to hell for committing sins.
All people sin and all sin is equal in the eyes of God. All sin is forgiven if forgiveness is asked for through Jesus Christ, man's leiason to god.
Yes, it's a sin. No, you don't nessicarily go to Hell for it.
I'm not a Christian, either.

You KNOW how our language works, and somehow you choose to squash sentences into the space of a long word? Bearing False Witness is a sin. Va au diable.

I wouldn't call it a sin.the ten commandments says thou shalt not kill.that to me don't go and kill someone in cold murder.this situation is unpreditable, one must be able to protect ones self and family.drinking and driving is pre thought out,you drink you know you shoud't drive and if you do the chances of being in a accident are high.look people shoudn't feel convicted because they protected themselves.
