my pc has horizontal red lines appear in packs across the middle of the screen!!!...any ideas please?

It's either your monitor or your video card.
If you have access to another monitor, attach it to your computer and see if the lines go away.

Sounds like a laptop problem, normally related to the vdu. is possible to replace, but a bit costly.
