My friend says his grandad, Joe Brindley, played football for England in the 1900's. He was born in 1878(ish) and he captained England. Can anybody help me with the information or any good websites i can look on?

TheFA.com says no player by that name has played for England's senior men's team. The closest to that spelling was Tom Brindle, in 1880. Maybe your mate's grandad played Rugby football?
