Like It or not, violence is as much part of our existance as a breathing is. it is in the nature of all animals to respond to threats with force or drastic action, without exceptions. And as some claim, due to our superior intellect and judgement, that we should know better or find another more "sensible" way of dealing with threats and similar situations. Which imo is not the case at all, it simply means that we have the ability to attempt to resolve the problem by other means, IF we choose to do so, or we have the free will to use the powers we have to forcefully respond to a threat. It is those who are not capable of this who will ALWAYS find another solution, not because its for the better, but because socialisation and society in general have dulled their basic human reactions to the extent that we defy our very instinct. Violence is used when words are not enough any more, or when someone is in need of a proper punnishment for a crime or injustice. Those who will sit and let the other more "hot-headed" man hit them, consider themselves as moral victors, when in actual fact, they simply are too cowardly or too unable to respond and fight back. this is of course circumstantial as there maybe a bully or someone fighting for fun and other ridiculous reasons, but if this was hypothetical, and it was a dispute of equal unease. our ancestors long before us, lived by a much simpler code, if a man threatens you, you fight back. you dont sit and try and worm out of it. violence is the most natural way to resolve a conflict of equal intrest, when words are simply not working anymore. If something you love, or hold dear is threatened, you will defend it, and if violence is needed to save somone you love, or to save your country from an impending attack, then so be it, we do not have these instincts for no reason, when threatened an animal will respond, so will a human, sometimes politics and bureaucracy are simply not what is required. The human race is slowly turning into a whorde of overweight fools, whos selfishness has clouded their ability to react as we are meant to, in an effort for futile self preservation.

violence sometimes IS nesessary.... sorry for spelling and gramatical errors, im in a little hurry.

It is the answer, when the decision is taken after thought and "reasoning".

(I have put the word 'reasoning' in quotations because it really is a function of what the person's moral values are. Here, I am assuming everybody in the world has moral values that can be justified.)

Impulsive violence is an answer when it directly threatens life ...as a person above rightly observes.

What then is violence? The loud demanding voice of a command upon a child or mother to the child. what then is violence but the way some overpower, what then is violence good for, undirected energy capable of lifting and moving heavy objects, what then is violence, but a tool un used properly to till the soil and move mountains, what then is violence, energy unleashed to please an enemy. what then is?

never violence is never the answer. try to talk out your problems first cause violence will never end the way you want it to. if talking doesnt work get the police or some other authority involved.

i would say never since violence breeds more violence. Just think about the "war on terror". They are killing terrorists which causes the terrorists children to feel like their only option is to become terrorist themselves. Check out the Ana-baptist tradition if you want more information on non-violence.
