U.S. seems to be a place where things and housing are expensive but the quality is not as good and ....?

noone seems to care much about that and don't mind paying expensive prices for low quality things and things that don't really worth that much?

The US is a place where if you want quality you have to search for it, and quite often its not the most expensive. A lot of people are just plain unthrifty, but that doesn't mean everyone is. Please do not give out blanket judgments.
