Why have children? - because we don't live forever and for us to continue the world requires population.

we have children so that we can extend our families, to nurture and to take care of something so special. We teach them things that we know about and watch them grow into a human being that we never were.

If we could live forever, having too many children would just overcrowd the Earth. In fact, it's already overcrowded.
