First, you have to determine the amount of the decrease. Forty dollars minus thirty dollars is ten dollars: this is the amount of the decrease. Then, simply divide the amount of the decrease, $10, by the amount of last week's earnings, $40. This equals .25. Then multiply by 100 to get the percentage. This equals 25%.

You can do this 2 different ways..

First..
30/40= 75%, 100 - 75 = 25%

Second..
40-30=10.. 10/40 = 25%

Answer : = ((30-40)/40)*100
= -(1/4)*100
= - 25%

The negative value indicates that its decreasing

Therefore, decrease in Doras's earning compared to last week is 25%

To calculate percentage's u normally do
= ((Final value - Initial Value)/Initial value) *100

Iam not sure though...so please check it

OK, the decrease is $10.00. So you have to figure out what percent of $40.00 is $10.00. If you want to know what percent of A is B, the equation to figure it out is (B/A) * 100%. So you take $10.00/$40.00, which is 0.25, and multiply that by 100% to get 25%. The decrease in her wages is 25%. I'd quit if I were her.

it is 25% less

40 dollar = 100%
30 dollar = X

x=(30x100)/40 = 25
