All are important. How can any country not consider all these issues important? Paramount? Can't do it. Impossible to put one above the other.

Child poverty is of paramount importance as they are our future. Canada is a land of plenty and there should be a minimum standard of living for our neediest and least protected. A nation is like a chain, only as strong as the weakest link and while environmental issues are right up there, until the greatest polluter on the earth does something, anything we try to do will be for nought and unfortunately a waste of money.

I think right now for me is education. yeah, i know it recieves a lot of funding but it's constantly over shadowed by health care. we must educate the future generations so they can grow up healthy, they can compete against the other nations and to prevent conflicts. putting money in education is, in my opinion, actually tackling the problem as opposed to cover it up when it arises in like the healthcare or child poverty areas. Healthcare is still very important and it still needs tremendous amounts of funding. getting care should not depend on your social status and wealth. if healthcare was actually sufficiently funded then groups would not be able to exploit that fact and make profit of it just like how they are trying to in vancouver. a private clinic tried to open up and provide emergency healthcare to people who are willing to pay. the environment is a pressing issue too and i personally believe that with the right amount of funding, awareness and action, global warming can be tremendously slowed down. however the environment doesnt really need to be funded because the government should tax the large corporations who are responsible for the pollution and take that money to run programs to slow down global warming. the military on the other hand needs to actually evaluate where the money is going. instead of spending the money on wars and afghanistan the money should go to peacekeeping forces, DART, and making a claim in the arctic. so if i were to rank the issues as to which one should receive the most funding it would be...
