Neap tide is when the Moon is half phase (1st and 3rd quarter). The tides are smaller because the Moon and Sun are pulling the tides in different directions.

Spring tides are during new and full Moon and are larger since the Sun and Moon are pulling the tides in the same direction.

Spring tides occur at new and full moon. The moon and sun are lined up so that their gravitational forces add up to produce higher-than-average high tides. (And lower-than-average low tides)

Neap tides occur at first and last quarter (half-moon) phases. In this case, the gravitational force of the sun partially offsets that of the moon, resulting in lower-than-average high tides.

Neap - lowest tide, moon and sun opposite

spring - highest, moon and sun lined up.

By the way, this is not very interesting.
