The modern Santa Claus is thought to be a composite character made up from the merging of quite separate figures.
St. Nicholas, with his crozier and miter, as he appears on a German holy card.
The first of these is Saint Nicholas of Myra, a 4th century Christian bishop of Myra in Lycia, a province of Byzantine Anatolia, now in Turkey. Nicholas was famous for his generous gifts to the poor, in particular presenting the three impoverished daughters of a pious Christian with dowries so that they would not have to become prostitutes. He was born at Patara, province of Lycia, Asia Minor. He was very religious from an early age and devoted his life entirely to Christianity. In Europe (more precisely the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria and Germany) he is still portrayed as a bearded bishop in canonical robes. The relics of St. Nicholas were transported to Bari in southern Italy by some enterprising Italian merchants; a basilica was constructed in 1087 to house them and the area became a pilgrimage site for the devout. Saint Nicholas became revered by many as the patron saint of seamen, merchants, archers, children, prostitutes, pharmacists, lawyers, pawnbrokers, prisoners, the city of Amsterdam and of Russia. In Greece, Saint Nicholas is sometimes substituted for Saint Basil (Agios Vasilis in Greek), a 4th century AD bishop from Caesarea. Also, a few villages in Flanders, Belgium, celebrate a near identical figure, Sint-Maarten (Saint Martin of Tours).[1]

Santa Claus comes from Laplander tradition,
they used to follow the raindeer ,that ate the Amanita Muscara (mushroom of death),and caught the golden urine into a bowel ,
this they drank and they got very high
the drug at first gives the sensation of evaporation of the body leaving the head to the last .and people thought that they could fly ,and many ended up in the chimney trying to get to the roof.
this is why Santa comes down the chiney and has flying raindeer .
the drug cult was turned into folklore and adopted by the Christians ,to entice the pagans into Christianity.

the Tree was also a Pagan tradition of phalic worship
and symbolized the golden penis of Horus ,which Isis had made for him when she put his buchered body back together again ,but could not find his penis,
adopted for the same reason,
All Christian Holidays ,originally were Pagan,
like the first of May(Easter) Halloween and Thanks giving ,as well as Christmas.
Saint Nicolaas was a Spanish Bishop who was kind to the poor ,this was such a rare thing ,that he was rembered for ever.
he had two black slaves ,who gave sweets to the good kids ,and beat the bad ones with twiggs,And he sat on a White Spanish Horse
.
He had Nothing to do with Santa Claus as some uninformed People suggest.

I think Santa clause is a myth people like to talk about. I only believe in Santa because of the little kids. But personally I don't believe in him. But I do sometimes.

1. A little child's imagination
2. Corporate America's attempt to make people forget that CHRISTmas is supposed to be centered around celebrating the birth of CHRIST, not sitting around obsessing about obtaining material posessions.
