a persuasive essay.... i say you write about current issues or events. try researching some, there are many topics for debate, such as "a just government should provide health care to its citizens." you could take a side on that persuade the audience.
but it really depends on what your teacher wants you to write about.
if you go to youdebateit.com, there are many topics there. you could write about sooo much.

You can try one of these topics: A capitalist economy is better than a communist. OR Stereotyping. OR Footballers should not get the amount of salary they are being paid. If u're just writing one, you can try one of the above. Or if you've written one and need a topic, you should have been more specific in describing what it was all about.

Check out http://www.ClassTopic.com They have some great topics that I've used in the past. Each topic has three good sources to get you started on the research, too.

Think of something that you think is wrong (abortion, the Iraq war, gun laws, people wearing striped shirts with plaid pants). Then think of how you want it changed. That's your thesis, or main idea. Now think of three reasons your way works better and why. There are the topic sentences of your next three paragraphs. Now add details and a conclusion paragraph and you're done.
