Selective attention is - by definition - a state that's either consciously or unconsciously directed. You can't "improve" a state.

Depends on what the matter is with it... pelase explain and I can edit later...
IE could be physiological, hormonal or neurochemical, for example.
could be you just don't empathize with others much so things don't seem personally relevant enough
could be there's too much demanding attention at one time (we're not lazing around like lions between the kills anymore, you know?)
