I did for 3 months in NYC because I didn't have any money other than to pay rent and I owed about $600 to the electric company. I spent a lot of time at work and out with friends at night. I read by the window during the day and went to sleep a lot earlier because there was nothing to do. I cleaned my house and did a lot of sewing (daytime). I had oil lamps and candles but I tried not to use them too much because of the fire hazard. It was difficult to read by candlelight. After awhile it really didn't seem so weird. That's why I waited so long before I paid to get the electric turned back on. It didn't seem that important.
