All my friends who wear burkhas tended to wear jeans and t-shirts, or the latest fashion underneath (this is when I was a teenager, mind you). They only have to wear those in public, or in the presence of men who aren't their husbands, so when they hang out with their friends, they can wear whatever they like.

I would assume so as they can take them off when not in front of males (other than their husbands) or out in public.
