the only email that should be viewed during working hours should be work related....we are being paid a wage to do work, not goof off by surfing the web, reading personal emails. what could be so important that it couldn't wait until you got home.
How would each individual feel if they owned the company and the workers were wasting company time and resources.
when you leave your home your right to privacy ends.,
yes, there is freedon of speech but if you want to view your email or such and not worry about your loss of privacy, get a handheld device and read and search on your personal time

Excuse me! What does freedom of speech have to do with you doing personal stuff at work on work time with work equipment?
When you are at work you are their to do the work they pay you to do period. Not go and email people just because they have computers. And if you mean invading ones privacy by you getting caught doing so, don't think so honey, it's their computer they can do what they want with them, don't want anyone looking at your emails, then use your own computer on your own time.

no I don't think is a good idea by stopping e-mails and Internet. Head chiefs often think that employees will be more effective by stopping e-mails and other stuffs, but I think that they de-motivate them. Im sayingthis because...when you work all day long...you just might need some refreshing ...to release your brain from the stress.
so maybe you should raise your voice with other colleuges.
good luck, in finding a solution.

a pity, b/c i'm sure your internet use was very productivity-enhancing.
anyways if you are worried about privacy, just wait for supervisor billy joe to take his smoke break; then, you can sneak around to that alleyway behind the jiffylube and message ur gurl on ur treo. hth.

If I caught someone making personal emails while I was paying them to work, I would fire them. after I warned them to stop and they didn't. If it was clear that it was on a regular break or lunch break then it would be OK.

If you're at work, then the computers you use belong to your company. The privacy is theirs not yours.

You are on the clock, they are paying you for your time, therefore it should be spent for the companies business and not your own.
If you don't want e-mails read, do it from home.
