Sleep patterns form themselves in peaks and troughs. When we are peaking we tend to dream (the reason why we always seem to wake up from a good bit in the dream ;-) this is called REM sleep. If you are disturbed during a trough you have been awakening during the deep sleep phase. This sleep is very important as its this that helps the body get over the days wear and tear. Everyone is individual with the amounts of sleep required. Some people survive on 4 whilst others need 8-10. The key is to ensure the room you sleep in is dark. This is very important because studies suggest that complete darkness repairs the melanoma in the skin and aids healthy skin. You should also time you alarm calls so your awake during a peak and not a trough. This is usually in 2 hour stints, so if you peak at 6am you can get up refreshed then. Stay in bed an hour later and I'll bet you get up groggy. Hey, why not stay in bed til 8 the next peak cycle. Now if only I can explain to my boss thats why I'm always late ;-)

Seven to Nine hours, depending on the person. If you feel good and rested then you are doing fine. Some people need a little more or a little less.

i think it differs depending on the stress and the age also. but normally it is between 6-8 hours.
when you getting elder you will need less hours nay reach 4.
