ps2 stopped playing ps2 games but will still play ps1 games. help!?

playstation 2 just suddenly stopped playing ps2 games. Still plays the older ps1 games. Any one have any ideas about what might be wrong? Thanks

uhhh your lens is probably messed up and the laser is not firing at the correct power to read a dvd disk

When that happened to me, I just kept hitting it until it worked, I kid you not. It fell on the floor several times, so I hit opposite the way the floor impacted it, and knocked everything back in place.
