What can be done to eliminate hate literature on the Net?

I go onto AOL messageboards and find a lot of antiSemitic rants. As well, I have found homophobic, classist and racist rants.

Nothing can be done to stop it.
It's like vomit and it spews forth no matter how hard you try to keep from spewing.
Let them rant and cuss all they want to.
At least we'll know who they are and how they feel, so we can avoid them.
We can use the hate they spew to teach our children what is wrong.

Why should the net be absent of hate literature? People have the right to be total assholes, and the rest of the world has the right to admonish them for it, but there's not much justification for the preventing of free speech (except in places where Yahoo or Google or the like say "None of this or else you're banned" which is because Yahoo and Google don't want to be held personally responsible for the content).

The only way you SHOULD be able to get rid of hate literature is by getting rid of hatred, and that's something that's virtually impossible, as sad as it may well be.

Answer: The first amendment is unfortunately a double standard, you have the right to speak about positive things and the right to speak about negative things. The solution is to make the positive morewide spread than the negative. Racism comes from all races, all classes and all educational levels. Even people with a PHD can be stereotypical and/or racist.

If you say anything against these hate groups you are a liberal or Democrat or anti american. They want you to hate anyone that isn't exactly like they are. Sound like anyone we know?
