Most maple trees are not tapped. You never hear a the 11 o'clock news anchor say "An entire forest of maple trees in northern Vermont blew up causing the entire state to be wiped off the map., each tree taking out one city!"
They don't explode and even if they blew up like an unlikely stick of dynamite that would not take out anything beyond a squirrel's nest.

No of course not!
I interesting fact is that in the deep south Water Maples, Red Maples and associated trees can be tapped very early and the sap run is not nearly as great but the sprup made is quite tasty!

NO try this when the days are warm and the nights freeze cut a limb off a sugar maple the sap will run during the day and freeze at night and u will have a slightly sweet ice sycle.
