I miss family holidays in Devon. Everything about them; Packing the car up the night before. Getting up early on a Saturday morning in May, when it's dawn and travelling so early in the morning I could see the sunrise as I went down the M5. Seeing the balloons over Bristol when I'm half way there, and watching the fog rising off the fields. Coffee out of a flask on the service station in Somerset, I can taste it now! Also, queueing up forever to go the ladies room in the services!
Actually getting to Devon and then being bored in Somerfield whilstmy mom did the shopping for the week. The first sight of the sea! The sound of a caravan door opening! Staking my claim on a bedroom. First breakfast at mom and dads caravan and then second breakfast (toast and marmalade) at my nan and grandads caravan in the morning! Anticipating the first swim in the pool, paddle in the sea, dancing to cheesy pop music from the 80s/ 90s and club quizzes,(and winning them!). Making friends from all over the country.
I miss being under the illusion that we'd never have to come home, or I could stay on holiday and have a career selling shells on the beach and then I would ruin the whole of the last day by crying over the fact that this would not happen!
Those were the days!

I miss being so naive. So Innocent ya know. Like right now after growing up and knowing all the horrible things that people do and how messed up the world is... but when I was a child nothing scared me, like I didn't know a bear was dangerous or a gun was deadly. The innocence in a child is unforgettable.

Playing with my sisters.
Not having to worry about making a living.
Not knowing that there was SO many bad people and so much bad stuff going on in the world.
Not knowing that other kids never had toys, food or the comfort like I was having, not knowing about poverty or even prejudice.
The time used to go soooo slow, not with every year it seems to go faster and faster (freaky!)
The smell of the new books and school material on the first days of school after summer vacation (I guess I'm weird)
Eating all kinds of stuff and having my metabolism burn everything (unlike now) :-p
Wow, the more I think the more I remember stuff! Thanks for the question and memories! :-)

Snow days when mom would tell me I could keep sleeping because school was canceled, eating peanut butter cookies and coke in the middle of the night listening to AM radio because I didn't have to get up for work the next day, grandma making me anything I wanted to eat anytime I wanted, the dreams that never came true.

funny you ask that, because i just talked to one of my childhood friends last night for the first time since sixth grade. So to answer your question, it would be my friends. i moved away when i was younger and never really kept in touch, but now i realized how much i missed her after i was done talking to her. I also miss the freedom, not having to worry about anything, a non-stressful world.

Free Pasturised milk in Waxed paper containers. Man that milk tasted good expecially drunk through a thin paper straw. You had to drink it quick or the straw would go soft and that was it. Very clever trick. There was a campaign about milk too. Watch out watch out there's a humphfrey about !! God that brings back memories.

the innocence & simplicity of life.i mean, nothing mattered as much you know.no responsibilities,no caring whether a certain guy liked you or not,no harrassing to do your studies,no gulit when you spend some time doing what you love instead of doing what you should be doing....the 100% on my math paper :)...so much time on your hands...boys were just, well, boys ;),life was fun,the sun was shining ALWAYS....my grandparents bringing me toys & food & playing with me...thinking that the world was such a pretty little place where nothing could go wrong,no long hours of depression,no wishing that you could be exactly like someone....well,that's my little list :^) what's yours?

Everything, but especially the fact that summers seemed to last ages, with mostly sunny days. Loads of trips to the beach with bottles of warm orange, and days spent playing in woods, picking blackberries and bluebells for my mum.
