Why would a 15 1/2 year old even want to go out with a 13 year old? Unless she's doing something she shouldn't? Or he wants her to...My daughter is close to that age and I wouldn't let her date with that age gap until she is at least 16 and more capable of handling difficult situations which might arise.

It was in my day.. I'm 33 now, but my husband was 4 years my senior during high school..
It was taught in high school about the maturity gap between ladies and gentlemen at those younger ages between 10 - 17, men mature a bit slower than girls do... the reason, I am not certain, but I do know it is also reflected in insurance rates for young men getting their drivers license, young ladies at the same age have a lower price in insurance on cars.

Well, I would say that on average people who get married are around 3 years apart, and so in the "adult life" this wouldn't be uncommon. I think most people would probably prefer to go out with someone closer to their own age when they're that old, but if he truly likes that girl, then it's perfectly ok. Love doesn't follow the rules of age, but only of itself.

its very common. when i was 13 (just turned 14 in september) i was going out with a 16 year old and then we broke up so then i hooked up with a 17 year old but now we are over too. girls seem to like more mature guys because guys our age are still very immature.

Girls mature much earlier than boys.....anything between 2 and 5 years earlier. So - yes it's common.
A 13 year old girl would be bored to death by the immaturity of a 13 year old boy.....and may find herself so with a 15 year old!

Its a two year age gap, it's fine. As long as they're just innocently dating i don't see where it would be a big deal. I wouldn't leave them in a closed room together or anything, but as long as you set good rules for your son and let him know what you expect out of him and his relationships they should be fine.

Very common. If it were a 20 year old with a 13 year old, i would worry but not on this one.

It apparently is common, as my 17 year old was going out, to our disapproval, with a 15 year old. We are thankful they broke up before he turned 18. I also wanted him to go thru his senior year without a girlfriend, as girls also seem very needy these days.

Very common now days. I know when I was in highschool it was practically unheard of to date someone who wasn't in your class. But yeah, more and more and more there are growing age gaps.

this is quite a normal age gap. girls mature a bit quicker than boys so they will probably be on the same wavelength.
