p = x + 2x + x + 2x = 48
6x = 48

x = 8

Area:
A = 8*16 = 8² * 2 = 128

Answer: area is 128 cm².

Since the rectangle has two widths and two lengths, the perimeter p=2l+2w.
We know that l=2w therefore, p=4w+2w=6w and 48=6w therefore, w=8cm and l=16cm. The area is length times width thus a=128 sq cm.

if l = 2w then 2l = 4w therefor f(p) = 48 = 4w + 2w
48 = 6w
/6 = /6
8 = w
since 2w = l then l = 16

16+16+8+8 = 48 area of the rectangle = 16 * 8 = 128cm^2

L=2W (Length is twice the width)
2L+2W=48 (Perimeter is 48 cm)

Solving, we get W=8cm and L=16cm
16*8=128 cm^2

p = 2( L + W)
48 = 2( 2W +W)
24 = ( W+2W)
24 = 3W
8 = W
IF W=8, L = 16
8 * 16 = 128 sq units

2006-12-03 06:56:05 · answer #6 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

P =2L + 2w = 48cm
A = L . w

(L = 2W
(2L + 2(2W) = 48

2(2W) + (2W) = 48
4W + 2W = 48
6W = 48
W = 48 : 6
W = 8cm

Check:
L = 2W
L = 2.8
L = 16 cm

Area: L . W = (8 x 16)cm = 128cm²
Answering: Area is 128cm².

w: x
l: 2x

2w+2l=P
2x+2(2x)=48
2x+4x=48
6x=48
x= 8

w=8 and l=16
A=bh
A=128
