Conjunctivitis or "pink eye" is an inflammation of the conjunctiva the membrane that covers the whole eyeball and the inside of the eyelids. The symptoms of conjunctivitis are redness, eye pain, burning, blur vision, feeling of dryness and discharge of a sticky fluid.
Conjunctivitis is very contagious wash your hands and do not touch the affected area.
Recommended:
Mix 2 tsp. chamomile flowers.
1 tsp. Oregon grape root.
2 cups of boiling water.
Let it sit for 20 minutes, cool, strain and use an eyewash.
Use calendula in bacterial or viral conjunctivitis to reduce itching and inflammation, heal and soothe. It's an antiseptic perfect for irritation due to pollutants and allergies. Use it as a local compress and eyewash. It is available in eye drops as well.
Use a lotion made out of Vitamin A and apply it directly.
If the eye is swollen, peel a potato and cut it in thin slices place them on eyes affected by conjunctivitis.
That's My Best Answer! Hope it can Help!

I will warn you that you will risk blindness if you put anything in your eyes that is not sterile. This is real and it has happened to people doing the home remedy for a simple condition like you have. Go and see a doctor, get a proper medication. If you go blind your conjunctivitis will really be no big deal.

it's not exactly a home remedy, but it does work fast and it's cheap. at the drugstore find a product called "Stye". it's non-prescription and prolly $5 or less. it's in a tube, you squeeze a bit out (wash your hands thoroughly first) and apply it to your lower eyelid, above the lashes, on the part that touches your eye. you can do it at night before you go to bed. in the morning you will be all well.
when my kids were little i would squeeze a bead of it across their whole lower lid line, so if you have someone who can do that for you, cool.

Pour some cooled boiled water into a clean bowl then add a little salt. Use 2 seperate cotton balls for each eye, dip into the water and gently squeeze some of the water out then wipe each eye wiping from the inner corner to the outer corner. Do each eye twice, using a different cotton ball each time and for each eye. If your kids are not too young and their eyes are swollen you can try this.. Peel a potato, slice it then lay it on the affected eye for about 10/15 minutes then wipe with the cooled boiled water and salt.

A boric acid solution that you can purchase at the pharmacy. Otherwise, just use clear water.(Won't help much though).
You have an inflamed conjunctiva that you need to watch carefully. Commonly known as pink eye. Some doctors will treat and others will suggest that you just let is go away by itself. Most doctors will treat because it is contagious. They can give you a prescription for antibiotic solution to place in your eye.

I would go to the doctor, don't mess with your eyesight. The last time I got an eye infection the doctor told me there's a certain kind of infection that can quickly lead to blindness.
