It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does it keeps slowing down and jerking while i'm driving around 55 mph or sometimes slower, already and a major tune-up

A lean condition on a carburetor can cause that. I'm guessing your car is likely fuel injected though. The other major culprit may be the transmission lock-up torque converter gone bad. This problem usually doesn't happen when the engine is cold, because the torque converters don't lock up then.

i do not study the more recent vehicles, yet different older vehicles had a sock form filter out contained in the gas tank. even as the sock were given too grimy it would provide up or shrink the gas bypass causing the motor vehicle to provide up. the vehicle would bypass again after the vehicle sat for a lengthy time period. If I remenber perfect, the speed became also affected.

You could have a head-gasket failure. Of course knowing make/model/year/engine/miles of the vehicle would be helpful.
